O'Neill retains boxing title

KILKENNY boxer Darren O’Neill of Paulstown retained his middleweight title in the National Senior Boxing Champions at the National Stadium, Dublin, on Friday.
He gave a gutsy performance when he outpointed Jason Quigley of Finn Valley Boxing Club, Ballybofey, Donegal, the current European Junior Champion. O’Neill won 6-1.
Darren who is trained by his dad, Ollie, can now look forward to the Euro Championships this Summer.
Meanwhile, Kenneth Egan, who has Kilkenny connections, made history when he won his 10th senior title in a row at light heavyweight. He beat Tommy McCarthy from Belfast.
