Hi Dylan,
The picture is a bit misleading as to what the USB connection on it looks like, But it is a standard USB connection and will work with any USB port.

Broadband Explained - Wednesday October 8th '08
INTERNET connections in the home have come along in massive strides here in recent years. Gone are the days, for most people, where sitting at the computer for 15 minutes waiting for your e-mail to load, to find that you haven't actually got any. There is still so much for Ireland to be offered when it comes to broadband, in terms of speed and availability, but for now we have enough to keep most of us happy with our internet connections in our homes.

Defrag Your Hard Drive - Wednesday October 1st '08
WHAT IS “DEFRAGGING”?
Have you ever noticed how your computer seems to run slower, and slower each week? You where probably thinking this is normal for a computer, well it is, but you can do something about it. Your computer is getting slower because your hard drive needs to be "Defragged" or defragmentation of your hard drive, to sound fancy.
Ciorcal? What's All This About?
I know, I know, my blog has been very quite lately, apart from my copies of the Elf Knows IT Voice articles.
This is because I have been working on Ciorcal - More Info Here!
There was a feature in the Kilkenny Voice today about Ciorcal, thanks to Jim Rhatigan.
If you have access to the Voice, give it a read. If not, check out the site.

ATM Skimming, What Is It? How Do They Do it? - Wednesday 17th September '08
IN the past week I have heard of two people locally getting "skimmed" at ATM machines and having their accounts cleared. So I said it would be good time to let people know about ATM skimming, the dangers of it, and how it's done.
Wireless Broadband, Know Your Security - Wednesday 10th September '08
WIRELESS access to your broadband at home or at work can be of great benefit, having access to the internet anywhere around the house or work place can make working on the internet a breeze. But there is also a side of the great wireless signal that everyone should know about, and that's the security side.
SECURITY AT HOME
Connecting To An Eircom Router, With Wireless
Fran sent a message using the contact form at http://elfknowsit.com/ask
Hi Elf,
I have just got a new laptop in the home and I am trying to set it up to use our wireless connection on our Eircom Broadband. But when I try to connect I keep getting asked for a key? But I never set one on it!. Am I doing something wrong? How can I get the key to connect to the broadband? It's a new Dell Laptop.
Thank you,
Fran
Transparent PNG And Internet Explorer
I suppose I have to start this with "Why oh why does Internet Explorer always have to give me head-aches??"
While working on my newest site http://ciorcal.com I was faced with another complaint by Internet Explorer. It just did NOT want to work with my transparent png's as a background. No matter what CSS hacks I used, Javascripts I tried, it just didn't want to work for me.
Here's what I was faced with:
Google Chrome - Do You Have It?
Chrome is Googles latest addition to the web, it is a web browser, aimed at simplicity, ease of use, and of course...open source!
I havn't got to try it out yet, since it's only available on Windows for now, while still in BETA. I have an install file. I'll give it a go tonight on my Virtual XP, in VirtualBox.

How Can You Fit More Time In Your Day?
If only I knew the answer to this question. I know I havnt really been frequent with my posts here over the past few days(weeks?). The reason is I have been devoting nearly every hour of my waking day to getting Ciorcal up and going.
Ciorcal is a new website that I am working on, It is an online platform for Ireland, and for people to connect to Ireland.
What Can You Do With Your Old PC's? Wednesday September 3rd '08
SOMETHING that has always bothered me is people throwing away their old PC's, I see it all the time. Any time I can stop this happening I do, if a friend or relative is throwing away an old computer, I'll take it off their hands and refurbish it, they make great servers! I have often got fast PC's to add to my server farm. This is a room I have with a group of PC's running as servers. All running together to power all of my websites, e-mail services, you name it!, There's a PC in that room doing it.
